The British Museum

I've visited the British Museum quite a few times as a child; my primary school organised annual trips, but since then I haven't been to the museum in quite some time





























As soon as you enter the museum, you are surrounded by the most beautiful atmosphere and high glass ceiling. The museum is easy to navigate along with guidance from the help desk on the ground floor. There are many historic sections of the museum, including Ancient Egypt, Africa, Greek and Roman Sculptures, North America, Roman Britain, and Money. 

I've always loved the gift shops at the British Museum. You can buy lovely Swarovski pens, British Museum chocolates, history knowledge books, stationary, novelty items such as key rings and jewellery, British teabags, biscuits, and historic toys. 





























Word of advice: try and use the toilet before you leave for the museum, or even use the toilets if you're purchasing something from one of the cafes across the road. The queue for the toilets at the British Museum is beyond ridiculous; I waited 45 minutes to use the toilet, and that was on a weekday. Maybe that's just for the female toilets, however. 

The British Museum is free for all, and is easy to access via various London tube stations, including Russell Square, Tottenham Court Road, and Holborn. 

Largest ever photo of the Royal Family!

Here is an image of the largest ever photograph of the Royal Family that exists, and is placed above the Thames near Blackfriar's Bridge.

The photo was displayed in celebration of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this year, and measures 330ft by 230ft!

Going on a Thames Cruise or river boat ride will guarantee you an amazing view of this photo!

Olympic fever!

London has Olympic Fever! Not only is everyone talking about it, but us Londoners see it everywhere! The Olympic Rings are on Tower Bridge, the River Thames, and the Olympics celebrations banners and national flags are all over Central London. Here are some images, and more are being uploaded soon!

Ghost the Musical!


Ghost the Musical isn't a show that lives up to its scary connotations and pre-conceptions, and the question to ask is, is that a good thing? The answer to this is yes- in fact, I would highly recommend the musical for you to pop onto your top ten films/shows to watch before you die list. The musical is currently showing at the Piccadilly Theatre in the heart of London.

The show tells the story of a ghost's (played by Mark Evans) attempts to communicate with his girlfriend (Siobhan Dillon) in danger via a dodgy, yet hilarious spiritual psychic in New York.

As I sat in the front row of the Royal Circle, my mind was encapsulated by the musical's stunning visual effects- one excellent example being the conveyance of the tensions between Sam and another aggressive ghost on an NY Subway train with great lighting effects to create a moving train of which the ghosts as well as other passengers were inside whilst arguing, giving audiences the idea that they were watching through the Subway tunnels given the fact that the stage was dark in terms of lighting, keeping all central focus on the train. Another somewhat hilarious example of another visually appelaing effect was when the bad guys are 'sucked' to 'hell' with the inclusion of dramatic music, red 'fires', cackles, and a good use of stunt cables.

Ghost the musical is probably the only theatre production I have seen that throws the audience into a strong feeling of wanting to participate. There were many occasions on which I wanted to actually be on that stage and dance along with the cast- I'm Outta Here by the most amazing and talented Sharon D Clarke who played the role of the dodgy psychic fuelling glamour, giggles, and life into the show, was a true winner that had my adrenaline really going that made me itch to get out of my seat.


Her portrayal of the dodgy psychic had the audience at the theatre in stitches, particularly in the second half of the musical- the half where Sharon played more of a significant role, which settled down the romantic tensions in the musical after Sam was murdered. Her excellent performance and stealing of the show got her the biggest round of applause and loud cheers at the end of the show.

All in all, Ghost the Musical is a must-see if you're someone for romance, music, humour, and a thirst for postmodern culture and entertainment. But if you're a person for serious romantic dramas, this musical may not live up to your expectations.
